Palamòs, after Rosas the second largest fishing port in Catalonia, is still characterized by the fishing. 3,000 people live here directly or indirectly from fishing. Gran de Palamós beach is opposite the tourist area of the resort. It is a beach with a family atmosphere, which has extensive infrastructure. It has a length of 575 meters and is made of fine sand. It has showers, several emergency services towers, first aid station, beach stalls and rental of pedal boats and dinghies, parasols and beach chairs. Cruises are also offered and there is a children's playground and access ramps for people with reduced mobility. On the long beach promenade that goes to Sant Antoni de Calonge, there are numerous restaurants, bars and shops. On the left side of the beach, where the old town begins, is the port of Palamós, one of the most important in Catalonia. The bay of Palamós is protected from the waves by the great east mole and therefore it is ideal for sailing. On the right, the beach borders the beach Monestir, which already belongs to the municipality of Sant Antoni de Calonge. In the beautiful old town are still many historic buildings, such as the Gothic cathedral, which stands high above the city and has the largest nave of all Gothic churches worldwide.
Calella de Palafrugell / Llafranc is a former fishing village that has almost preserved its ancient, typical appearance. Belonging to Palafrugell, Llafranc is in close proximity to the hill of Sant Sebastian, which, with its lighthouse and an old chapel, is a tourist attraction in this region. The coastline of this town is home to long sandy beaches and smaller coves surrounded by pine trees. Those who do not just like to snooze in the sun, will find plenty of water sports such as surfing, snorkeling, banana riding or beach action such as beach soccer and beach volleyball before, of course, beach bars and cafes. Diving, golf, horseback riding or hiking through the woods are possible in Calella de Palafrugell. A visit to the botanical garden of Cap Roig can be combined with a hike to a neighboring Calella des Palafrugells. A beach path leads from the botanical garden and from El Golfet beach, past picturesque coves of the Costa Brava, to Llafranc. If you want a little beach holiday, Castell d'Aro, near Platja d'Aro, is where you can visit the ruins of the 11th-century castle of Benidorm. In ancient times, this was a settlement of peasants who enjoyed the secure location protected by the castle. Also part of the holiday program is the Havaneres, traditional fisherman singing or the Senya Blanca gardens. In the evening there is the possibility to drive into chic locations such as the open air disco in nearby Sant Feliu or to Lloret de Mar.
